Bingo Card Activities & How to Do Them
Remember, every dog is different! If you need to modify something for you or your pup that's totally ok! The point is to provide a fulfilling life, not perfect activities.
🐶 Mental Enrichment (Engage the Brain!)
- Frozen Food Stuffed Toy – Stuff a KONG or similar toy with dog-safe peanut butter, yogurt, or wet food and freeze it for a long-lasting challenge.
- Muffin Tin Game – Place treats in a muffin tin and cover some compartments with tennis balls. Your dog must move the balls to get the treats!
- Food Puzzle – Use a store-bought puzzle toy or DIY version (like an egg carton or towel roll-up) to make your dog problem-solve for their food.
- Practice a New Trick – Teach your dog a fun trick like “shake,” “spin,” or “touch.” Training stimulates their brain and strengthens your bond.
- Treat Dispensing Toy – Use a puzzle feeder or wobble toy that releases food as your dog plays, encouraging independent problem-solving.
🎾 Physical Enrichment (Get Moving!)
- Tug of War – A great strength-building game! Use a sturdy rope toy and encourage your dog to tug, helping with impulse control and exercise.
- DIY Obstacle Course – Set up a simple agility course using chairs, broomsticks, and pillows, guiding your dog through jumps and tunnels.
- Walk with a Friend – Invite a friend and their dog for a joint walk, providing social exposure without intense interaction.
- New Walk Route – Switch up your usual walk to introduce new scents, textures, and experiences.
- Dig Time – Let your dog dig in a designated area (like a sandbox) to satisfy their natural instincts. If you don’t have a yard, use a kiddie pool filled with shredded paper or sand.
🌿 Sensory Enrichment (Engage the Senses!)
- Sniffari Walk – Let your dog lead the way on a walk, allowing them to sniff as much as they want. Sniffing is mentally exhausting and calming for dogs!
- Snuffle Mat – Hide treats in a snuffle mat (or a rolled-up towel) and let your dog forage, mimicking natural hunting behaviors.
- Scatter Feed – Toss your dog’s kibble or treats across the floor or yard so they can use their nose to find them.
- Sniff Out Treats – Hide treats around a room or in a box filled with crumpled paper and let your dog sniff them out.
- Dog-Safe Bubbles – Use pet-safe bubbles and encourage your dog to chase and pop them for a fun sensory experience.
🍖 Feeding Enrichment (Make Mealtime Fun!)
- Slow Feeder – Replace your dog’s regular food bowl with a slow feeder to encourage problem-solving and prevent gulping.
- Frozen Lick Mat – Spread peanut butter or yogurt on a lick mat and freeze it for a soothing, stress-reducing activity.
- DIY Snuffle Box – Fill a cardboard box with shredded paper, fabric strips, or toilet paper rolls and hide treats inside. Your dog will have to dig to find the rewards!
- Dog-Safe Chew – Give your pup a long-lasting chew like a bully stick, yak chew, or frozen carrot to keep them engaged.
- Massage – Give your dog a relaxing massage, gently rubbing their ears, back, and legs to relieve stress and strengthen your bond.
🐕 Social Enrichment (Strengthen Bonds!)
- Playdate with a Friend – Arrange a safe, supervised play session with a friendly, well-matched dog.
- Visit a Dog-Friendly Store – Take your pup on a mini adventure to a pet-friendly store for new sights and smells.
- Hide and Seek – Hide in another room, call your dog’s name, and reward them when they find you! A great way to reinforce recall.
- Texture Walk – Encourage your dog to walk on different surfaces (grass, gravel, wood, sand) to stimulate their paw pads and senses.
- FREE SPACE! – Choose any enrichment activity your dog loves the most!
